It’s been a long day for me since 6am this morning. Started with substituting a member from a sister BNI chapter. I don’t necessarily dread these mornings since I get to meet familiar faces of business owners, plus you’d be surprised how high energy a group of business people can be that early in the morning. But I suppose the joy of the morning was offering my calendar to another member because she hadn’t gotten one – that was the 1 nice thing I did today.
After the morning event, I met up with Hawk to discuss Simpleet’s new direction and what we had to do in order to move forward. It’s always easy to push back things and without realizing, it would’ve been push back and back and back. So hopefully it would stop there.
Tuesdays is what I would call my BNI day. If I substituted in the morning, I’d continue to attend my official meeting in the afternoon at 3.30pm. Between moments it wouldn’t leave me with much time to do a lot. Hence, BNI day.
Once the meeting was done, my evening appointment got cancelled and I did ponder joining my other BNI friends for mamak. However, I had work to catch up on being BNI day.
Generally, I would say my 2012 goals are onto a nice start. Hooray!
Sigh. This be the 2nd time I’m writing this because I may have accidentally discarded the previous draft and I guess the iPad app was made too easy to do it without an undo. Oh well.
So, in summary. I was talking about my milestones and setting new year resolutions using the smart formula – specific, measurable, attainable, rewards and timed. Something I learned from a friend in my business network group.
2011 milestones:
My girlfriend of 8 years is now my fiancé
I started reading books again
What I’ve decided as my 2012 goals:
Finish reading 1 book a month
Publish 1 blogpost either on this blog or Websites Made Simple every 2 days
Join a Mandarin course
Refresh the design of Websites Made Simple before May
Cleanup my workspace and room before Chinese New Year
Do something nice everyday
Making sure I do what I set out to do
One thing I’ve learned from the smart goals is to measure myself and know how I’m performing. So I’ll firstly include my list as a widget on my blog to know everyone is holding me accountable. Then, I’m going to printout an A4-A3 so I can include what rewards I’d be giving myself for completing these goals.
While this is going to be really new to me and though it sounds scary, there’s always a first for everything. And I’m very sure I’ll come out more proud knowing what I can achieve especially when I do.
So all the best to everyone in 2012. And do tell me about one of your resolutions this 2012. I want to do something nice for you. 🙂
Well, it’s Christmas eve and I hope everyone has gotten their gifts under the tree, cookies and milk on the table along with the booby trap to snag you a Santa Claus for the morning tomorrow. 😉
Readjusting your fate
Me and Ariel pretty much spent our afternoon indulging in movies with not watched. The first of it was The Adjustment Bureau which is your modern day story about fate and bringing to reality the plan which God has for all of us.
The storyline made it very much believable. Even if it was fate, chance wasn’t controllable and it could happen because we as humans did things on impulse. Quite a clever movie if you ask me.
Bonking the friend because you can
I don’t believe it’s a common thing in our Asian culture. The phrase friends with benefits relates to the non-committing relationship you may have with a partner. And I don’t recall this movie being in Malaysia. I guess it could be due to the scenes of sex and excessive nudity in a portion of the movie. Now, before you go looking for it, consider if you’d like to see Justin Timberlake’s ass.
I’d consider this movie your classic romance comedy where boy meets girl, they start feeling for each other, breakup and then later officiate their relationship.
Overall, it’s just a nice movie to be enjoying over the long weekend.
Procrastination can be a really bad thing. When you’ve something to blog, the moment you set it aside, you end up losing its motivation and consider the decision whether to post it or not. So, what the heck – here’s my week’s life summary.
Run-in with Chicago Rib House
It’s a new eatery in 1Utama and my friend gave a good recommendation on the food. So, we normally take our friends’ word, right?
Half-rack of pork ribs
The meat was tender that it peeled off the bone without trouble. As happy as I’d have love to be, I wasn’t. Because it took more than 30 minutes before me and Ariel were served our food. My belief after reminding 2 waiters of our orders and witnessing the kitchen manager look our way – twice, was that our servings got delivered to the wrong tables.
No doubt their system tracks orders keyed all the way to the food being cooked, but because of human error somewhere our food wasn’t delivered until much much much later. In addition, my side order was also wrong but at this point, I just couldn’t give a damn. It was a very bad experience and I won’t be paying the Chicago Rib House a second visit.
My friends suggested me to complain on their Facebook page but here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to publish this here, on Twitter and on my Facebook, if they’ve a decent team monitoring their brand online, I’d be more than happy for them to talk to me – if not comp me.
Rediscovering Selangor
If you’re active on Twitter and stay in Selangor, you may have bumped into the Tourism Selangor social media team. They’re really doing a pretty good job engaging the Selangor residents and recently, I learnt about the forest reserves – thanks to a contest by Alam Sekitar Selangor.
Contest goodies
The contest prizes wasn’t an iPad2 or new computer or new car but I didn’t really bother. It was a spur of the moment that I thought to just join the contest for the fun of it. And from that experience, I learned that 1 of the forest reserves in Selangor is Bukit Gasing. In addition, I actually visited the Tourism Selangor website to scour for my answer.
What surprised me most was when their package arrived. Apparently, it was sent from the office of the Adun Bukit Lanjan; Elizabeth Wong!
Well, thanks again for the calendars and I hope to see Selangor do much better with technology. Next step maybe to give real credit where it’s due to those who really created something for the state using technology. And I’m not talking about some 1email accounts.
When it’s so easy to blame someone else, you can’t help but do it. I suppose that’s why we’re mere humans. Kind of like acting on impulse then only reflecting on your actions later.
Well, it was farewell to a modem I bought back in July 2010. I’ve not had to replace it since I bought it thanks to my surge protector – first device which blows when lightning hits. But in the end, I guess my poor ol modem departed for hardware heaven due to keeping it switched on nearly 24/7.
I’ll miss you dear ol modem. Your bright LED lights were way more attractive than this other boxy modem I have with only tiny embarrassing squares for LEDs. Plus, I loved your sexy curved size as compared to this bento box shaped new modem I have. I will miss you…and my RM50 for replacing you.
On another note
Who bled on mah mail?!!!
Crap! Now I’ve an added hatred towards those damn spam flyers dropped into your mailbox. The blardy ink can run and cause something like this.
OH MY GOD?!!! I pray my Nuffnang cheques inside them are safe. *fingers crossed*
