Why do listeners call into radio?

One of the spaced out questions I had earlier was, “why do listeners call into radio stations?” Some of the segments sometimes sound like befrienders.

Like today, Mix.FM on sibling rivalry had 2 sisters who had qualms with one another over a pair of earrings and their late-mother. The person who called in was the Malaysian sister while her sibling is in Australia.

This got me thinking. Why do listeners call into radio stations? Is it because of:

Fame

Fortune

money

Insecurity

Loneliness

Boredom

Well, I’ve personally won movie tickets by SMS-ing in but I’ve never called in before. Even if I did, it would be win something. Yes, sometimes I too am kiasu.

But besides the greed, would you call into a radio station to cry out for help of a sloppy boyfriend you’re too shy to confront and to introduce your parents?

Future Celebrity

If I ever did become famous from blogging or my work or with Level5, I look forward to having this as my theme song.

Ladies and gents, I give you Muse’s new song; Uprising. I totally dig the chorus part of the song which goes:

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious.

Hell yeah! That last line is seriously the best-est part about the chorus.

To me, the chorus is like telling a story of how others have tried to put you down but you continue to thread on. No one could stop you and at the end of the day, we will be victorioussssssss! πŸ˜€

Malaysians, We Stand United

Tomorrow expect to see a group of people at Bangsar LRT station. If they’ve a piece of string or rope the length of their arm, they’re mostly there for the Tali Tenang random act.

This is being organized by Random Alphabets. The very same group who initiated the KL Freeze in Unison at Pavillion.

They’re back and this time it’s to show the country and the world, despite the mess this country falls in, we Malaysians believe in the spirit of Muhibbah. We, the Rakyat, remain calm and rational in our emotions. Not letting others who choose to disrupt our love for the country and its people, break us.

Like a strand of string or rope is easy to be cut, but a rope weaved with other ropes and string makes it tougher to be cut. πŸ™‚

Movie Review: The Legion

I won 4 tickets from Churp-Churp and my movie entourage was my girlfriend, her brother and my business partner. Another friend of ours had to miss out because only 4 tickets maximum were given. The Legion was at GSC, 1Utama.

Well, we were given seats 3 rows from the screen. Yes, that close. Some other bloggers I saw at the event were seated only 5 rows from the screen. Which made many of the Churpers asking, how in the world did we all get these kind of seats? Even if we redeemed our tickets early.

But enough ranting. The good thing about the movie is that the action scenes weren’t as many. I could tell, because at our distance, quick movements in action scenes are nothing but blurred and disfigured visions. And there weren’t many incidents like this.

The build up of the story was alright but towards the ending, it lost steam. The ending for me was one of those “wtf” endings and mind you, NOT cliffhanger!

The main character; Michael (Paul Bettany), was the right person to play the part. His cold and intense expression and posture brings out the dark but yet, a good side to the character. Well casted and played.

Unlike the movie Old Dogs, this is a movie I’d not watch again. Sorry, Peter Schink and Scott Stewart.

Other bloggers I bumped into at the screening wereΒ Sashi, Bryan, Yatz and other familiar faces whom I’ve not personally introduced myself.

By the way, can someone tell me why didn’t the possessed move when they exited from the backdoor?
