10 years of Hari Raya Video Advertisements

Dedicated to all my Muslim friends. It’s the season where your tolerance is paid off with the smiles of your family members and friends in the reunions. May you have a joyous celebration and make sure to return with all 5 fingers if you’re going to be exploding those cannons in your kampungs. 🙂

Just noticed how this commercial didn’t really have a happy ending. Maybe it’s just part 1 of the story – I guess.

Apa nak jadi~ LOL! I couldn’t help but laugh whenever the tune came out.

One of the simpler messages communicated by a brand wishing everyone Hari Raya.

If there was a Hari Raya video to represent my true meaning of 1Malaysia, this would be one of them.

Balik kampung. Oh ho ho ho…balik kampung.

The story of a widow who returns to her husband’s family to celebrate Hari Raya in remembrance of his love and support. It’s one of the sadder tales to bring out the meaning of Hari Raya.

2011 Hari Raya F&N Music Video come Commercial

Okay. Seriously, I would’ve never thought of F&N to come up with this. And I hope they continue on this path because music is always in the heart of Malaysians. The song has a Western style but its contents and lyrics are all in Bahasa Malaysia. Kudos F&N.

You may have noticed 2004 is missing. I was looking for a 2004 commercial but couldn’t spot any. In replacement of it, here’s a commercial from 1999.

1999 Hari Raya Petronas COMMERCIAL

One Youtube user who published a similar video said that the moral of this advertisement was the essence of it – I totally agree. And it’s sad thinking how children now are not being raised to understand the real prices of life.

Most of the video commercials are from Petronas because it was difficult finding other Malaysian companies who took the effort to upload their commercials. In addition, Petronas has been consistently churning out really great festival commercials.

Hope you enjoyed the blast from the past. Maaf zahir dan batin – Forgive my physical and emotional (wrongdoings).

Video response to P1 Pimp Our Tagline contest

I’m not an animator nor a video wizard, but I guess I’ve to make do with what crappy skills I have in drawing, animating and video editing. Especially when there’s nothing to be proud of my previous DiGi broadband contest entry. Seen it?

Well, I hope I’ve done much better for the current P1 Pimp Our Tagline contest. It took me about a week to plan out the flow and 2 full days to prepare and compile everything.

Of course, I should disclaim the video was done for my personal use and I had no intention what-so-ever to harm anyone in the video. So, there.

By the way, please do vote for this video. I’m seriously considering to sell-off the prize won later for cash. The fund will be used to help out my girlfriend in her final semester.

Uniqlo Malaysia and the Exchange Policy

I headed down today for Day 2 since Uniqlo Malaysia opened at Fahrenheit 88, Kuala Lumpur.

uniqlo malaysia entrance

Traffic was smooth sailing thanks to the public holiday; Deepavali. But I was greeted again by the queue which had already started at Uniqlo Malaysia. 0.0

Don’t exchange during Uniqlo Malaysia opening day

My purpose of visiting Uniqlo Malaysia so soon again was to exchange a pair of jeans I bought. Weirdly enough, even with the same waist size, this particular pair had more room compared to the others.

uniqlo jeansCaryn and Orchid were asking me what I bought from Uniqlo Malaysia on Twitter. Well, 4 pairs of jeans and 1 pink Minnie Mouse t-shirt for my girlfriend (not pictured here). The Uniqlo tote bag was free for purchases above RM200. And what I really liked about it was, it had a pocket inside of it! 😀

Hoping to skip the queue this time, I went up to the 3rd floor and caught one of the Uniqlo staff trying to enter from the shuttered entrance. I asked her if I’d be allowed to walk-in if all I needed to was exchange my pair of jeans for a smaller size and if I could, try it on first.

Alas, she said I could exchange within a 30 day period so if I wanted to exchange it today, I’m forced to join the 3-hour queue for to enter and exchange. Sigh.

I still made the most of my visit today

Not wasting the trip down and my RM3 parking, I thought of filming the queue to show you roughly how long is it. 😉

Today, Body Shop used the opportunity to place a promoter right beside the queue promoting their latest fragrance. Smart!

And in a bright printed dress, she stood tall on a mini stage with a fan cooling her down. It’s hard to miss her though I wonder how’d she spray the fragrance on the ladies from that height.

And by the way, Fahrenheit 88 doesn’t have a lot of parking bays. I had to create my own parking spot when I reached – thank goodness for MyVi. 😛 But as mentioned in my first Uniqlo Malaysia post, be prepared to pay RM3 first hour and RM2-3 every additional hour if you’re staying long.

Well, looks like I’ll only make my product exchange 1-2 weeks later. Hopefully by then, there’s no queue and I can browse the Uniqlo Malaysia outlet with comfort, and without smell. 😛

Future Celebrity

If I ever did become famous from blogging or my work or with Level5, I look forward to having this as my theme song.

Ladies and gents, I give you Muse’s new song; Uprising. I totally dig the chorus part of the song which goes:

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious.

Hell yeah! That last line is seriously the best-est part about the chorus.

To me, the chorus is like telling a story of how others have tried to put you down but you continue to thread on. No one could stop you and at the end of the day, we will be victorioussssssss! 😀
