One of the spaced out questions I had earlier was, “why do listeners call into radio stations?” Some of the segments sometimes sound like befrienders.
Like today, Mix.FM on sibling rivalry had 2 sisters who had qualms with one another over a pair of earrings and their late-mother. The person who called in was the Malaysian sister while her sibling is in Australia.
This got me thinking. Why do listeners call into radio stations? Is it because of:
Fame
Fortune
Insecurity
Loneliness
Boredom
Well, I’ve personally won movie tickets by SMS-ing in but I’ve never called in before. Even if I did, it would be win something. Yes, sometimes I too am kiasu.
But besides the greed, would you call into a radio station to cry out for help of a sloppy boyfriend you’re too shy to confront and to introduce your parents?
