Sayonara RM50

When it’s so easy to blame someone else, you can’t help but do it. I suppose that’s why we’re mere humans. Kind of like acting on impulse then only reflecting on your actions later.

Well, it was farewell to a modem I bought back in July 2010. I’ve not had to replace it since I bought it thanks to my surge protector – first device which blows when lightning hits. But in the end, I guess my poor ol modem departed for hardware heaven due to keeping it switched on nearly 24/7.

I’ll miss you dear ol modem. Your bright LED lights were way more attractive than this other boxy modem I have with only tiny embarrassing squares for LEDs. Plus, I loved your sexy curved size as compared to this bento box shaped new modem I have. I will miss you…and my RM50 for replacing you.

On another note

Who bled on mah mail?!!!

Crap! Now I’ve an added hatred towards those damn spam flyers dropped into your mailbox. The blardy ink can run and cause something like this.

OH MY GOD?!!! I pray my Nuffnang cheques inside them are safe. *fingers crossed*

I love my cartoons

Hate to admit it, but I’m a real kid when it comes to my cartoons – can’t enough of it. As cheesy as the script sounds now as compared to when I was 10 years, I still love watching my cartoons. I suppose this is the value you can’t put on your childhood.

So, just to share a list of cartoons I’ve managed to find back. Note: If you’re an 80s-90s kid, you’ll most likely know some of them, if not all. 😉

My sneakers last too long

As much as it means for a guy to be realistic, I WANT A NEW PAIR SNEAKERS! 🙁 I’ve been awing at so many pairs of sneakers while window shopping it feels like a sin to buy them! Is that even possible?

Sneakers I own

I’m not a die-hard sneakers fan but I never knew my 3 pairs of Adidas shoes would last THIS long. The furthest to the left if I recall has been nearly 5 years or more. The middle pair is the limited edition New York I got for myself while studying in Melbourne – that’s been SEVEN years now. And the furthest to the right was a pair I bought on impulse – yes, guys do it too.

But as much as I want to own a new pair of kicks, my conscious mind reminds me “Danny, you don’t need a new pair because you’ve not worn out your other pairs of sneakers yet.” T_T

Sigh. How-la?! Some more coming towards end of the year, Chinese New Year coming and though it’ll be nice to own a new pair of shoes, I could technically use the money buying a new pair of Dockers – which I want too.

How do you women do it?!!!!

When I grow up I want to be

A scientist because I want to be like Albert Einstein.

An architect because I want to create buildings. A psychiatrist because I really like the sofa all psychiatrist have in their room.

Whatever the ambition, this thinking process as a child was the answer to the question which has been lurking in my mind.

Why many students don’t know what they want to do when they grow up?

They lack imagination. They aren’t dreaming enough. Maybe I was an exception because as a kid, I imagined – a lot. When I got my first computer, I started deciding I wanted to design websites. But coming back to this matter, I feel many kids and teenagers today aren’t dreaming enough – that is the best word to describe it; dream.

Even if they were dreaming, I suppose its to go to some other country like their lucky rich friends. Or, to own that Playstation 3 console so they can talk about games with their other friends. Honestly, I was like that too and that’s find being part of the process to teach them about dreaming.

But it’s unhealthy to not realize you’re not dreaming of your future life. What is your ambition? What do you want to become? What do you enjoy so much now that you can make a career from it?

Ambition is part of your dream

Okay. Maybe you love to go clubbing whilst in college and you’re only studying accounting because your pay is high. So, start dreaming, how can you have a career in the clubbing industry because you enjoy clubbing?

If you love drinking alcohol, then strive to be an international bartender. If you love dancing, become a professional dancer or aim to be a choreographer. If you love meeting people, maybe marketing or mass communication is what you can study then work in a company who handles clubs.

All the opportunities I’ve described are the jobs you could have based around what you love doing. And by doing what you love doing, you’ll naturally think out of the box and it won’t feel like work because it’s something you enjoy spending time doing it. In addition, passion will drive you and push you harder. If there isn’t an opportunity, you will create an opportunity because you see it, whilst others don’t – that’s passion.

So, start dreaming. I’ll just continue spacing out. 🙂

Golfing on the commando course

Besides waking up for business before 6.30am, I’ve not had to wake up at the time ever since I stopped competitive swimming. But I guess this would be the norm if you plan to golf in the morning.

UPM is known as the commando course to many Malaysian golf players.

You now entering Jurassic Pa...oh wait.

Mainly because the back 9s (Hole 10 onwards), feels like you’re playing with the jungle very close by. Other than the monitor lizards, we saw a family of monkeys crossing the fairway. So remember to not pack food in your bags.

The course felt very long but I suppose it’s because the fairways were hilly. This contour gave the impression that distances were shorter and walking along it made you more tired, even though we had buggies.

Ahh...it burns!

It got pretty hot in the late morning. Plus, cover from the trees at the back 9s were lacking, since there weren’t many trees along the buggy track. And I’m not sure to be happy or not when it started raining midway. Yes, it kind of cooled down the heat. But we had to actually abandon our game because it was a long winded rain.

Oh well, I guess there’s always a next time to battle the commando course. Just this time, I’ll want to be more prepared to play the greens better. They were fast and pin locations made it really challenging for high handicapped players like myself.

Therefore, I will be back!
