A Singapore Christmas

Happy new years! We headed down to Singapore this year for Christmas to celebrate it with the rest of the family. In summary, I truly love Singapore’s transportation infrastructure; its safety and its breezes. Oh, how nice it was walking in the night in your shorts, when a whiff of breeze just blows across cooling your every being. Syok.

Double layer wha?!

After reaching Vivo City and wanting to rid ourselves of the hunger pangs, we couldn’t find the initial restaurant we wanted (looks like we’re far off from being called Masters of Malls) so we headed to some pizza place at the food court. And this blew my mind.

It’s a sandwich, but a pizza. Wha?! Anyway, taste wise was nothing to scream about.

Might fine fish noodles

The next time I come down to Singapore and I see a crazy queue at an eatery, I will put 80% of my trust in the Singaporean’s choice to tell me that the food must be good. Because damn, this fish noodle was super good to me.

Not far away from this stall, there was an even longer queue for Lor Mee but I’m not such a big fan of it.

However, I did catch a glimpse of the bowls ordered to the nearby tables. They must have ordered the large bowl because it was BIG! And I could see the gooey dark brown sauce; it looked tasty.

Esmereldaaaaa

In 2013, me and the wifey travelled to Singapore in order to catch The Lion King (which was awesome) and Wicked (which was awesome too). And since we were in Singapore, we decided to catch Notre Dame de Paris.

I’ve only watched the Disney version so I was kind of confused with the storyline this time.

Though, I must commend the male voices for being clear when sang. And surprisingly, I found it really challenging making up the words when Esmerelda sang – maybe English wasn’t her strongest language. *shrug*

Father-Son Time at golf

Nowadays, I rarely have the chance to golf, let alone play with my brothers and Dad. So we took the opportunity to head Johor for a round at Kukup Golf Resort.

The course had wide fairways and a good range of Par 3s to Par5s for us to play. On the other hand, what was stopping this golf course to me for being good was the maintenance of the grass length. Roughs were long enough to lose balls even after tee off, despite sure efforts identifying the ball definitely landed nearby.

And the midway rest area toilets were, well, to put it nicely…bad.

Johor-Tuas traffic congestion madness

Never in my life had I been stuck in a congestion lasting almost 3 hours or more. Thank goodness my bladder didn’t burst while in the car! And I do pray never to get stuck in it, ever again.

Now back in Malaysia, I miss the cleaner Singapore air, freedom from worries walking in the night and the cool breeze which moves. Sigh.

Attending my first ever K-Pop concert with Super Junior

This year I originally thought about attending the T-ARA performance. While I ended contemplating about it too much and not purchasing the tickets, I guess it was a good thing. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to afford my concert ticket to Linkin Park in Malaysia. 😛

However, my wife really wanted to see Super Junior perform and by the universe’s  will, a friend of ours mentioned having tickets to pass along because she wasn’t into k-pop so she gave it to us.

They have air-cond. Dang!

Super Junior’s Supershow 5 was at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil and it was an indoor stadium. Hence, air cond!

And seriously, this k-pop concert gave me a very good first impression of the show. Why? Because they were blardy punctual in comparison to other concerts. The show was suppose to start at 5pm and when it started, it was between 5.10-5.15pm! If it were an American band, expect to be waiting there for about 45 minutes or more.

I was also really impressed by the stage design and planned performance of the concert. Besides the raising platforms, they spent no expense to incorporate lasers, huge LED backdrop, pyrotechnics (yes, small fireworks!), bubbles and blowing of shredded paper.

This show of entertainment level for a k-pop concert made me felt the ticket you would buy is really well worth it. And it’s not easy to make someone feel this way!

This may be a Super Junior thing, but I noticed between some performances, they’d play a short video acted by some members. In my mind, I was thinking this must be used to give the members a break and give them enough time to switch between costumes. So it wasn’t only a concert, but a show.

Not to mention, it was different watching the Super Junior members interacting between each other and the fans. My observation was the group members had a really close relationship and they’d behave childishly between one another like how best friends would. I never expected to see such a thing during a concert but I must say, it makes you feel really good.

The show lasted for a good 2 hours or more. Although the encore chanting from the fans wasn’t great, Super Junior still returned to deliver a final performance and their farewell messages to Malaysia fans.

I really had a good time and enjoyed my first k-pop concert experience. Hopefully I’d be attending a few more next year and be able to witness more elaborate shows put on by other groups. 🙂

How to pay TM UniFi bill using Maybank2u (M2U) online

Never did I expect to have to bang my head against the wall over how to pay TM UniFi bill online. *facepalm* I mean seriously, my expectation having to pay my UniFi bill online using Maybank2u was suppose to be much less frustrating. Sigh.

Anyway, here I am to help you save yourself from the frustration and remind myself the bitter pain of having had to go through how to pay TM Unifi bill online via Maybank2u.

Now, I don’t suppose I have to tell you how to login to your Maybank2u account. If you really need help, you could email takemymoney@myusernamepassword.com and I’ll see what I can do.

step 1 - how to pay tm unifi bill
Maybank2u dashboard

After you’ve logged in and you’ve landed on the dashboard page. You’ll want to move your eyes to the higher right portion of the page where you see “Bill payment”.

Don’t be misled like I was!

By the Bills & Statement option in the lower middle portion of the page. It’ll take you to a different section and its for you to do more stuff with your bills. Which I wouldn’t bother because all I want to do is pay my TM UniFi bill.

step 2 - how to pay tm unifi bill
Hey, Telekom Malaysia Berhad – Telephone & Multimedia must be right… NOT!

This was the one step which caused me the ultimate frustration because my TM UniFi bill stated Telekom Malaysia Berhad. Hence, like any normal person, I would think that option to be the right one. But nooo…

The correct step was to select Utilities from the list of all payees! #facepalm x 1000

step 3 - how to pay tm unifi bill
There you @#$&!&#!?! UniFi are

At last, I have found you!

step 4 - how to pay tm unifi bill
Another doozy you wouldn’t believe

Okay. Congratulations for making it this far. Now pay attention to the Maybank2u image above because you will need the bill’s account number and not the bill number. If you’re stuck in a vortex for a second like I was, read it again because it is different. 😛

Here on, it’s finally downhill with the TAC authentication and the payment receipt.

Now you know how to pay TM Unifi bill online too!

And I have to say this…

what part of “Take my money” didn’t Maybank2u understand to pay my TM UniFi bill online

#facepalm

Buying online from Zalora

I was fortunate to receive shopping vouchers from Zalora recently and this gave me a good enough reason to try out their online shopping experience. “Who wouldn’t shop for free, right?” 😛

Plus, this came about the right time when my old pair of Adidas shoes decided to develop a weird hole at the bottom of it. *jump for joy*

Facepalm moment

Honestly, I got mixed up between Zalora and Lazada. Yes, I make such mistakes as well because besides a pair of shoes, I’ve been looking around for a pair of new headset.

What’s the difference? Zalora is an online store for apparel, shoes and accessories to go with your fashion outlook. Lazada is an online store for buying computers, hardware and gadgets. So yeah, facepalm moment.

Mah new goods from Zalora

I really love my new shoes! Because the blue is really striking and it’s not easy to come by a pair like this. In addition, material isn’t suede so I wouldn’t have to worry too much about water stains.

Color is awesome, right? Right?

It was pretty easy shopping at their website and it’s my very first time buying shoes and apparel online. I’ve always been skeptical when it came to buying this stuff online because you can’t try them before you buy it.

Thankfully, my shoes fitted nicely – even with socks. On the other hand, I had to exchange the shirt I bought – a little tight.

1 size small for me
M-size was a little tight for me

Thankfully, Zalora was prepared for this. It took me a little while to confirm if they did because the information on the website only spoke about returns, not exchanges.  Even after I did find a mentioned word about exchanges, I used their online chat support to confirm and verify the exchange process.

Instead of a 1-to-1 exchange programme, they require customers to return the goods via courier with tags attached in its original packaging including the Zalora box – mine was big due to the shoes. Good thing though is they’ve already included a return PosLaju slip for you, so you bear no cost for returns. However, while I was at the post office, I was still asked to fill up another pink slip. *shrug*

Then, once they acknowledge receival of the returned goods, they’ll refund you back in store credits so you can use it to purchase the same product again with a different size or even, a different product.

So far it’s been a good experience, besides the bump when you have to do a size exchange. But I guess the only way to not feel it as much is you either luck out with the right size or make the returns less troublesome for customers – which is what Zalora did.

Now, if only I could do more “free shopping”. LOL!

Linkin Park Malaysia concert returned in 2013

Like a friend you’ve not seen for 10 years, I experienced that feeling when Linkin Park performed live in Malaysia again. The last Linkin Park Malaysia concert was held at Stadium Merdeka and ticket were about RM200+. Though their performance was awesome that time, it was together with a not-so-good memory because there were what I deem hooligans. The moment jumping started, a group of us tumbled because of others who were pushing and forcing their ways to the front.

Fast forward to Linkin Park Malaysia concert 2013

Initially I didn’t know about Linkin Park performing in Malaysia until I caught word from someone, which led me to find out the Linkin Park Malaysia concert was to be organized by The WonderLand+.

I made the decision to purchase the more expensive “VIP” ticket this time; RM650, in hope to avoid hooligans as previously. On concert day, I made my way to the stadium around 4:30pm after buying myself an early dinner snack.

At 4.30pm-ish
At 4.30pm-ish

There were some cars already present in the parking lot and I didn’t think anything of it because I assumed with the VIP ticket, my queue wouldn’t be as long. Well, I was kind of wrong.

The not-VIP queue
The not-VIP queue

I found the queue unreasonable and as though being conned to believe “VIP” really meant something. This was because my queue was combined with others who bought tickets for the mosh pit and our concert areas were different. Okay, so here’s where I rant that the management should’ve considered splitting our line because VIP means Very Important Person and we paid 650 bucks okay! *fumes*

Thankfully, I made some friends while queuing and they happened to be in the VIP area too. So we were chatting about the Linkin Park Malaysia concert to past the time and I was glad to know as we’d have each others backs when the concert began. Plus, they were nice enough to help me snap a photo. Thank yous!

Back after 10 years #linkinpark

A post shared by Danny Foo (@dannyfoo) on

By the way, if there’s 1 lesson after your first concert is it will never start on time. Besides that, other practices when attending a concert is:

  1. Pack a raincoat.
  2. Bring a zipper bag for your mobile phone, in case it pours.
  3. Leave umbrellas in your vehicles.
  4. Leave water bottles behind.
  5. Leave DSLRs / camcorders at home.

Of course, number 5 is pretty obvious unless you’re media. However, we noticed a smart person who brought his GoPro and a monopod to this Linkin Park Malaysia concert. Genius!

When the concert started, it was natural for the crowd to go wild. I was really glad Linkin Park acknowledged their absence for the past 10 years. In addition, I felt more awesome because they said Malaysia was their last stop for this year’s tour. Thank you guys for making the Linkin Park Malaysia concert a reality again!!!

Needless to say, everyone was pumped during the concert and Linkin Park continued to be awesome entertainers.

I noticed while Mike was performing, he threw a pick into the crowd naturally and I think it caught the fans by surprise. Some of them had the “WTF” expression because they didn’t realize what came flying at them.

A quick rant however was some people couldn’t keep their mobile phones in their pants for the length of the song. I noticed many had their phones in the air video recording the songs from start to finish. So in my mind, I was… “Dei! You might as well stay home and watch the Linkin Park DVD.”

The longest I recorded was less than 2 minutes and I was lucky to catch the moment when Mike came down to sing; In the end, with the fans. When it happened, fans were pushing me like a ship in the wave towards where Mike was so I couldn’t do anything else but move with the flow. Thankfully, there wasn’t a tumbling incident like my previous Linkin Park Malaysia concert experience.

After Linkin Park finished their encore set, they gave some freebies like guitar picks and drum sticks to the fans. Unfortunately, none of it came my way as I was hoping a towel would come flying to me. T_T

Nonetheless, I was really happy and proud to have attended the Linkin Park Malaysia concert once again. Furthermore, I was nearer to the stage this time as compared to last. 😀

Next Linkin Park Malaysia concert goal; be in the 2nd row! Fighting~
