The guy wedding planner

It’s really the little things you do which makes you feel more appreciated and proud. As humble as I can choose to be, I still have an ego to fulfill at times. 😛

For instance, me and Ariel were invited for a food tasting at Ritz Carlton previously. While seated at the table, I can’t help but notice most of our company were either brides-to-be with their bridesmaids. First thought jumped to mind, where were their grooms?

Gotta love that baby

Then at a separate occasion, we were speaking to another person who also mentioned, normally it’s the brides who handle the wedding. I couldn’t really understand why is that. Or, is it really because of the whole if I, the groom, had it my way, we’d have strippers and beer challenges for our wedding. Odd.

So it was really nice to be noticed, as the groom who was doing things with his future wife. I guess that’s also thanks to the fact me and Ariel love the same theme in mind.

Now, all we have to do is cross the biggest hurdle. The venue.

Who came down the stairs?

So my brother came upstairs all of a sudden to ask me, did you come down the stairs the last 15 minutes ago? I said, no. Puzzled.

He goes to ask his wife in the other room, she said no. Now, I’m curious.

Then asked me to ask Ariel if she came down the last 15 minutes ago, she too said no.

So downstairs I went with Ariel to ask my brother why was he asking that question. Apparently, my brother and Dad confirmed that they noticed someone come down the stairs. My brother then added, the person came down and disappeared very quickly.

Well, it’s not entirely worrying since I do believe in these things. Plus, I just joked with them saying maybe it was mama (grandmother) visiting us or maybe taking a tour of the house since she last returned.

Besides, I’ve had my fair encounters noticing a white figure in the shower. Heavy black figure sitting on top of me while staying in a hotel. Hence, passing black figure isn’t really something to be freaked out about.

As they say, as long you don’t disturb them, they’ll not disturb you. 🙂

Chilli Rush challenge

Bunch of webcampers organized a makan session with Richerd, who wanted to eat real spicy stuff. One of them dug up the outlet at Jaya One called, Chilli Rush – about 2 doors away from Wendy’s.

chilli challengerThe chart lists down the spicy level for a number of chillis – cili padi is up there too. And some of those names are very unfamiliar to me, but the spicy level was enough to spook me. Also, yup, that’s Richerd – fire breather in a few moments.

Chilli Rush challenge

The concept of spicy level buffalo wings isn’t new to me. The first time me and Ariel heard of it and tried this was at a Singapore air strip. However, every chef has his own style so this tasted different.

The challenge was to eat a dozen wings of a super level in less than 2 minutes. Yes, 2 FREAKING MINUTES! Plus, super spicy level is suppose to be above Level 20.

Brains, must have brains.

Well, that’s Richerd after 4-5 pieces of the wings. Seriously, he looked like he was in a daze or trance. As much as we landed support to our dear compadre, we couldn’t help but video record this whole experience. 😛

The memory card got filled up by the time I captured Richerd’s last moment. Don’t worry, he was still upright and kicking with his sexay now Joker-like fiery lips after the wings. LOL!

Burn baby, burn!

The rest of us wanted to know what the wings Richerd ate were like. So each person took a leftover piece to have a go. I didn’t have a piece but I can honestly tell you, even after licking a slight bit of the oil already had a spicy sensation and swallowing it down gave an irritable cough.

Everyone else who took a bite immediately called out for the soy drink to be their savior. Funnily, in a not a good way, the soy came pretty late so you could imagine what torture they were going through struggling for something to help them ease the spiciness. And Richerd had 6 pieces of that! *phew*

Once the main event was done, all of us ordered a main meal for the night. Me and Ariel tried their chicken or beef burger – glazed with their special spicy sauce, which you choose from Level 1 to Level 10. We only went with a Level 1 sauce but tried a Level 2 for the buffalo wings – waiter asked us again and again thinking we may have made a mistake. -_-!!!

Om nom nom

The beef burger was really de-lish. The custom patty was very soft and tender that gave it a light feeling but would definitely satisfy your hunger. Honestly, I’m not sure how would I enjoy such a burger if it was a spicy level I had to worry about.

Look ma, no hands

The only reason I’m blogging about this is because I’ve never seen a toilet with this feature. Yes, it had a soap dispenser which you use your foot to help you dispense soap to your hands. I’m telling you, it’s brilliant!

Use feet to press on big black button

I know, I know. It sounds quite jakun but it’s a device I’ve not come across. Plus, I almost dismantled the soap dispenser at the faucet to figure out how do I get the soap to come out. LOL! I guess this would be one of those RTFM moments – I didn’t notice the steps pasted there. 😛

Overall, it’s a nice place and from what I heard, it’s only been open for 2 weeks. So, Richerd was the 1st and only person at this moment who took the Chilli Rush challenge. Hear hear!

And I wouldn’t mind going back there again for the beef burger. Slurps. 😀

On September 11, 2001

Ten years ago; 2001, I was only in college and it was a news breakout I’d never have expected to happen – especially to USA. Without recollection of where I heard it first, it’s still clear to me, on that day, everyone said, “America was attacked”.

Quickly switching to the international TV channels, coverage showed an airplane had hit one of New York’s landmark towers; World Trade Center.

Never in my life would I have expected this to happen. Never in my life would I have thought someone in their right mind would even commit to such a thing.

Deepest condolences to everyone

It’s been 10 years since the terrorist attack. Putting myself in the shoes of those who lost their loved ones, it would still feel like tomorrow to me. And 3650 days still wouldn’t be enough time for me to not recall this day. The day America was attacked, the day New Yorkers witnessed not 1 but 2 airplanes crash into the World Trade Center.

To all in USA and New York, I’d share a moment of silence with you in remembrance of the people and their memories. They would never be forgotten, they would always remain close in your heart and they will live on with you, in your life.

9/11 Memorial and Museum

The grounds of where the World Trade Center stood has been transformed into a memorial and museum. The site now looks like a peaceful memory to lay to rest the grieving and sadness of 10 years ago.

I’ve not been to New York but I’m assuming the pools (largest man-made waterfalls in North America) remind us where the towers stood. The design was selected from a competition held and the selected design was titled; Reflecting Absence by MIchael Arad and Peter Walker.

I’d love to share with you the time-lapse of the construction, unfortunately the format used from their website isn’t compatible with WordPress – no idea why they didn’t use YouTube or Vimeo. But I’ll re-upload it again to my YouTube account to share here.

In the meantime, full location details can be found at the 9/11 Memorial website.

Again, it was a day I still remember. It was a day like the tsunamis, even Malaysians were moved by the whole event. Friends, we share a moment with you on this day of remembrance – September 11, 2001.

Partaying Pulp Fiction style

Yesterday night was a double event extravaganza for me. After attending the short session at WebcampKL, me and Ariel headed off to our friend’s birthday party. But since we were there earlier, with partially empty stomachs – gobbled some pizza at WebcampKL, we decided to nom a proper dinner.

As we finished chowing down on the om nom food at Fat Spoon Cafe, they started rearranging furniture in preparation for the partay of the night.

cafe transformationThe shifted tables to the side reminded me and Ariel of the classroom setting we used to do in schools whenever we needed to make space. Once the space was made, staff brought in few rolls of carpets and stacks of pillows. It was becoming like a sleepover. LOL! 😛

party foodOther than the nachos, there was popcorn which was repacked into nice paper cones and arranged on an egg rack – neato! These were just some of the tidbits while we had special condiments as it was a private function. 😛

screening and stickersIt was a night of fun fun fun and more fun. Our friend distributed stickers quoted from the movie, set the environment with large posters from Pulp Fiction including a private screening whilst everyone was mingling. And you guessed it, some of our other friends came dressed for the occasion – Pulp Fiction stylo. 🙂

I guess as you mature, musical chairs are a thing of the past, replaced with more sophistication and grown up fun. ROFL!

It was a great night and do share what was your recent themed party.
