Woke up to the morning feeling everything is as it is. Util I saw CNN doing a segment on Apple. Curiously watching on, my Dad injected the news which gave me a shock – Steve Jobs passed away. What?!
So my Dad added, Steve was battling pancreatic cancer. And in my mind I was thinking, didn’t he resign not too long ago. Man, Steve knew it was coming and he exited at the right time. Weirdly but true, people who know they are going and make the necessary preparations like this amaze me. It’s like their foresight is looking into the future.
Sigh. I’m really going to miss Steve’s presentation and presence. He inspired me and continues to inspire me as a presenter. I’m going to miss you Steve. The world, is going to miss you.
If you already have your Apple iPhone 4, it might be too late to save it. Save it from what? Definitely not Tom Dickinson’s blender.
But glass shatter. Yes, I’m referring to your shiny mirror-like finish on the front and back of your Apple iPhone 4. That glass, can shatter from a fall.
As much as I didn’t want to believe it, all truth has been published on the Internet. And to make matters worst, a couple of people have already done the Apple iPhone 4 drop test.
Exhibit A
This tester didn’t use a protective case or bumper, as Apple iPhone 4 users refer to it. However, notice the average height and drop of the iPhone 4. As much as you may be comforting yourself right now saying, you won’t drop it that many times, don’t be so sure. It’s really scary knowing that without protection, the glass shattered easily by the 3rd drop. In addition, I’ve a bad feeling our tarmacs is much more unforgiving than theirs. Ouch.
But hang on, here’s the final drop test video I want to share.
Exhibit B
This dude did the drop test with the Apple iPhone 4 bumper. The real life scenario tested were from heights of 3 feet, 6 feet, 8 feet and an attention seeking; 22 feet – off his roof!
After watching this video, you’d have a sigh of relief knowing you’ve a bumper. However, I’m wondering how much protection can a bumper give you because the front glass is still exposed. Possibly the back too, depending on the bumper you purchased.
Personally, this design flaw is holding me back more from getting an Apple iPhone 4. This “what if the glass shatters” is a whole different level compared to “I’ve a dent in my iPhone” from dropping it.
Which makes you wonder, will Apple release a newer iPhone 4 in the coming months?
Based on the Twitter activity last night, Apple nuts were at Midvalley Gardens apparently for the Maxis launch of the iPhone 4. And reading Smashpop’s experience, many celebrated and hanged around until the wee morning hours. Gosh.
Despite receiving my 1st generation Apple iPhone free, I never thought Malaysia had that many iPhone fanatics which were crazy enough to participate in this event. It’s almost like the queues you’d find outside an Apple Centre.
Then again, maybe it was because Maxis apparently were giving out Apple iPhone 4 units in some lucky draw fashion. *shrug*
And right now, the Low Yat forum is flooding with Apple iPhone resellers and 2nd hand sellers. Everyone hoping to get rid of their Apple iPhone 3G or 3GS to fund for the newer version. Plus, I came across a rumor in there saying someone’s cousin leaked that Maxis may sell the Apple iPhone 4 without a contract next week. Alas, it’s a rumor!
The cats out of the bag after the merry-go-round ride from:
New iPhone coming soon
Someone left iPhone 4 at a bar
Stranger picked up iPhone 4
Engadget bought iPhone 4 prototype from stranger
Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) happened – this morning, Malaysia time.
And finally, Steve Jobs announcing the spanking new sexy glass-faced Apple iPhone 4 at WWDC. By the way, if that’s not sexy enough, then here’s the preview of the Apple iPhone 4 design video.
It’s supposedly slimmer and the new screen is kick-ass! With a spanking ability to record videos on high-definition; 720p at 30fps.
I’m really excited to have my fingers all over the new Apple iPhone 4. All because I’m still maintaining my iPhone 2G and it’s high time for me to get a new 3G-enabled mobile phone and be connected 24/7. 😀
But, I’m still reserving my final decision and going to compare with 2 awesome mobile phones. They’ll be the:
HTC Evo 4G
Apple iPhone 4
Both match up to the functions I need and can live with. So the tie-breaker will be its operating system; iOS4 vs Android.
p.s.: This is what Maxis whispered on Twitter few minutes ago.
Nuffnang’s introduced a new program for its Gliteratti members. It’s called the; Evangelist Program. It’s for brand lovers to shower their love for, brands. Doh.
According to their blog, brand evangelists get the low-down and inside information of new product launches and other exclusive stuff from the brands.
I would be an awesome brand evangelist because:
I love branded stuff.
I love free stuff.
I trust branded stuff.
I value their customer service more if I were their brand evangelist.
I would tell my parents, my brothers, my relatives, my friends, my friend’s friends and tell total strangers about the brand.
I would convert as many of the above to be on the same brand.
I would blog (almost) daily about the brand.
I would love to attend all the happening events of the brand.
I would protect the brand.
I would make the brand my own.
In short, I’d be the most awesome brand evangelist. 😀
Now, can I get that with an Apple iPhone 3GS? ROFL!
Disclaimer: It’s not my fault if your product or brand doesn’t meet my expectations.
You can’t buy my brand evangelism or loyalty. But you can improve further. And I’ll support that. 😉
