Why am I having an AWESOME Friday morning!

Anyone can tell you it’s important to start your day positively. Easy as it sounds, it’s not easy – especially when you’ve had a rough week or because you probably woke up from the wrong side of bed. Why do they even have that phrase – wrong side of bed. Hmm…

I believe my morning awesomeness came because of the following order of events – don’t me okay! ๐Ÿ˜›

  1. My downloader speed was consistent.
  2. Completed my Jurian Beat Crisis albums which I’ve been looking for and finally have the chance to listen to their TWO full albums!
  3. Have some new movies to watch.
  4. Transferred the music into my USB.
  5. Told my fiance to have a good day at work – replying with a smile.
  6. Listened to Jurian Beat Crisis at a higher than normal volume in my car on my way to my first appointment.
  7. Started patting the wheel to the rhythm of the music.
  8. Started putting on a smile through my cruise.

And the rest they say is history. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Seriously. I’m still smiling as I’m writing this and just feel an awesome energy surrounding me right now.

If you’re wondering who’s this Jurian Beat Crisis, don’t worry. Share the love!

In addition, I realized music which pulls me in are ones with a raw style to it. Here’s another Malaysians would remember – OAG’s 60s TV. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would’ve also shared another indie band; Couple. But can’t seem to find any music videos to share here. Oh well, look them up – I preferred their 1st album though.

To everyone reading this, have an awesome Friday! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’ll huff and puff and cart your books away

The rage somewhat have been the book sales happening and the 2 most talked about have been the MV Logos Hope book sale and the Big Bad Wolf book sale.

MV Logos Hope

I didn’t drive all the way to Klang for this. And the reason you’ll have to go the distance for it is because it’s a ship docked at the port with a book sale in it. Yes, you’ve to line up, board the ship then buy your books. It sounds like a very cool experience to be buying books in this manner but then again, I’m not going to drive to Klang for this.

Big Bad Wolf Books

Okay, so me and Ariel drove to Serdang instead to the apparently, biggest book sale in the world.

Taken near the exit

I’ve seen venues nearly as big as this. Plus, I’ve seen book fairs way bigger than this venue when my Mum used to visit them overseas. So I’m still wondering how was this coined the biggest book sale in the world. *shrug*

So anyway, shopping for your books here is your typical warehouse sale. You get towering books because not many people buy them or individual titles mixed up in a row like a deck of cards. Then before you begin your journey of exploration, you’ll need to secure yourself one of these boxes.

Maru would have a field day, said Ariel.

Besides the boxes, I noticed many visitors using grocery bags, IKEA bags and some even brought suitcases. And on my mind while carrying my box I was thinking, wouldn’t the size of the baggage make you purchase more?

Okay. So they had really lots of books from children, young adult, travel, general fiction, comics, movies and music along with biographies and memories and some more. But as usual, computer books were either very old or few. Even photography were more of coffee table books.

Based on my observation, you’ll get your visits worth if you’re looking for books for children, general fiction, romance, cookery and biographies. And if you’re heading over tomorrow, make sure to go before prayer times cause I bet it’s going to be packed – don’t have to mention weekends.

Also, you’ll find a throng of OCBC people asking if you’d like to sign up for their credit card to get a RM20 voucher as you enter or as you’re viewing some of the books.

Even a wolf needs credit.

Oh, before I forget. The best thing about this book sale was you have trams to take you from the car park to the venue! This was seriously a great idea. Plus, a good reason for MAEPS to utilize these vehicles I think. ๐Ÿ˜›

Prices of books which I saw ranged from as low as RM5 to RM20. So if you’ve been book hungry, this is your chance to replenish your library. And don’t forget your suitcase! LOL!

Say hello to our little friend

The Fujifilm Instax Mini 25.

It’s a Polaroid camera me and Ariel decided to buy for ourselves. We started our hunt in the LowYat forums because that’s where you get some bargains for technology related products. After some enquiring, we got to know one of the sellers was going to be around town. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make it back to where we wanted to COD (Cash on Delivery).

So while at Amcorp Mall, we walked into the camera shop nearby Starbucks since I knew they’d definitely carry this camera. After asking the price, it was near what we were about to pay the LowYat seller. So after haggling another RM5, we just bought it from the shop. Malaysian mar. :p

Okay. So seriously, biggest investment isn’t the camera itself. It’s got to be the film and the particular batteries. A box of plain polaroid film costs RM25 per box – according to Ariel, works out to about RM2.50 per photo. Then, CR2 batteries costs RM25 per battery, and this camera uses 2 of it! O.O Die!

Despite the investment, I guess this was to be expected and we’re still very happy with the camera. Only thing now is to make sure we’ve to make all shots count. Lol!

Me – Captured on video

Never before have I stepped in front of the camera. And stayed there. Normally, I’d be the person behind my ol Canon 400D snapping away. But I suppose there’s always a first for everything – go-kart for instance.

Okay. I may not have conquered my fear of heights, but I still consider this a big step for myself this year. With the support from my friends, I’d like to kickoff an initiative to talk about the gaming scene. Personally, I’m more comfortable with the First-Person Shooter (FPS) environment but again, there’s a first for everything. Thus, allow me to introduce you, Gamescoop.

I know right. “What’s with the hands?” OMGROFL! Well, I guess that’s what happens when you actually watch yourself for the first time.

And if you’re a seasoned host or a natural, please do share some pointers with me. I’d love to upgrade my presentation skills +10 Level higher. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for watching!

Garrett Popcorn finally in Malaysia

Om my gawd! It’s kam-bing. It’s kam-bing I tell ya!

If you know who took this picture, let me know.

So what the fuss about – it’s just popcorn right? Wrong. Believe me, that’s what I thought as well until I just ate 1 of it and by gosh, it’s a popcorn like no other you’ve tasted in Malaysia – nearest place which has this is Singapore. And like my friend said, once you’ve had the Garrett Popcorn, you’ll hesitate ordering cinema popcorn – ever!

It’s hard to describe the popcorn but here are some visually different facts of the Garrett caramel popcorn:

  1. It’s rounder.
  2. Caramelized all round – evenly.
  3. It’s bigger than your normal popcorn.
  4. It’s golden browned all over – well-covered with caramel.

Okay. It really sounds good. But hold your horses.

In Singapore, their Caramel Crisp sells from SGD8 for a small bag. And that bag is smaller than yourย McDonald’sย paper bag. Converted to Malaysian Ringgit, be prepared to pay about RM16-20 per small bag.

But the question on my mind now is, will local cinemas like TGV or GSC or MBG, allow us to bring this into their cinemas?

Or, will one of our local cinemas raise the bar and allow Garrett Popcorn to set up a small kiosk at their concession area for patrons who are willing to spend for this premium oh-so-nommy popcorn?

It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out. So watch your social media timelines when Garrett Popcorn officially opens! ๐Ÿ˜€
