I saw the New Straits Times (NST) on the dining table this morning and saw the headline of Malaysians missing. Like any concerned and loving Malaysian, I was wondering if they referred to the Haiti situation.
But then, some other article caught my attention on page 2 – though small. Heading reads “Beware Internet use”. OMGWTF!
Met up with some P1 buddies (Veron, Kenny, Lawrence, Cynthia x2, Jason x2, Elroy and Trevor) last night for dinner together with Ariel. We ate at a new place to me called; LOL Cafe, located in SS19 Subang Jaya.
Being an Internetizen, LOL would’ve stand for Laugh Out Loud. But nope, it’s called Lots of Laughter or one of our friends said; Lots of Love. For good food.

The highlight of the dinner was indeed the grilled crab. Its meat was so fresh and sweet you could just eat and eat. Other than the crab, we also had:
Pork satay (yes, pork!)
Deep fried shrimp (Kenny and Veron agreed it had to have beer)
Chili lala (spicyness!)
Grilled cockles (me and Kenny were downing a plate)
BBQ lamb (a little on the salty side)
BBQ chicken wings (this was the bomb!)
And to accompany our food, some of us brought wine and alcohol. Seriously, it’s been a long time I had a hearty meal, good food, good wine and great company. All in one Friday night – awesomeness!

As I said on my Facebook status…
Great food. Great friends. The only way to enjoy great company. 🙂
It was a night of food, games, prizes, bloggers and friends in High Definition at the Astro B.yond Bloggers Night which was held at Modestos, Sri Hartamas. Emceeing the night was Deal or No Deal host; Non.

The night kicked off with the introduction of Henry Tan; Chief Operating Officer, Astro. He was telling us about the expectations and excitement of what’s to come from the new Astro B.yond. Bringing a whole new experience in high definition.

We were then treated to the premiere of the Astro B.yond TV commercial in High Definition for Astro B.yond. I couldn’t really see much of the details at the beginning but when it came to shattering glass and rich colors of the fauna, man, it looked good!
Plus, some interesting facts about the commercial is it’s the longest Malaysian television commercial in history at approximately 2.30 minutes. Can’t imagine how much that’ll cost in air time. LOL! Oh, and it even supports Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound baby!
Part of the promotional segment also had selected bloggers of the Nuffnang community sharing their views and expectations of watching TV in High Definition. One of them was none other than infamous; saimatkong.

After this segment, it was all about feeding the hungry bloggers. I was partially starving at the point and thank goodness, they even had mutton to munch on.
Food spread buffet style
While dining we were entertained by pole dancers a lively band with one of them being a collegemate of mine back in the old Lim Kok Wing days. The music was traditional with a modern tune and upbeat to keep your ears and heart thumping to the beat.
Thumbp thump thump
Keeping the lively blogger spirit at the party, everyone was invited to play the game nearly similar to Cluedo. It was to seek out a murderer among us based on the clues plastered everywhere. Managing this challenge was Nuffie Robb and Huai Bin (Sixtheseal).

There were 20 teams comprising 4 members each hunting all around the club with tiny magnifying glasses to analyze clues. Once that was done, they competed to win the 32″ LG HDTV and 1 year free subscription to Astro’s B.yond experience. Here’s the winning team with the person who walked away with the prize holding the “Winner” sign.

While at the party, I also bumped into a number of celebrity bloggers like RedMummy, Cheesie and fourfeetnine.

Next time, I’ve got to place myself in photos like this. And here’s a shot of Saimatkong with another friend of mine; Chong.

And by the way, don’t be shy because all the pictures above have larger versions. 😉
Quickie: A must watch for the hilariously funny Robin Williams and versatile John Travolta. 🙂
Thanks to YouthSays for giving me 3 invites to the movie; Old Dogs. The director of the Old Dogs movie; Walt Becker, also directed Wild Hogs. Which also starred John Travolta.
The character Travolta plays in Old Dogs is near similar to the one in Wild Hogs. He portrays a very successful person in business and romance; sweeping any girl off their feet. His best friend in life is Robin Williams and does whatever a best friend needs to do when their best friend needs help.
As for Robin Williams, the last recent movie I saw him star in was Night at The Museum 2. Comedy wise, I can only remember the movie; License to Wed. So it’s been awhile but Robin sure can still make the crowd laugh.
I would’ve liked to show you the movie trailer but their embeds in YouTube were disabled by request – whatever that means. So you’ll have to watch the Old Dogs movie trailer the old-fashioned way, clicking on the link.
If you watch the movie, look out for the wide smiles and beware of your balls!
In Malaysia history books, children and students are taught the meaning of “muhibbah”. It’s about Malaysia’s multi-racial community living harmoniously with one another.
Lately, we’ve had temple destructions, cow head displays and pig head displays. Now comes another grueling test towards our beliefs in muhibbah, church burnings in Malaysia.
It isn’t bothering me religiously but mentally. I start questioning the morality of Malaysians actions towards such acts. Furthermore, how should these acts be judged later?
It’s like a frequency disturbing my wave of thoughts. Where can I find peace? What can I do to calm my thoughts and regain myself? Then I remembered, Juwita Suwito’s song performed for Visit Malaysia 2007. It was titled; One Golden Celebration.
I hope the song (and maybe video) would help you calm your nerves too. We’re Malaysian and let us continue living together in spirit of muhibbah.
