At one time in my life, I made a personal vow to myself.
Never to have to see a girl cry or let her experience sadness.
Here on, it was really about being the shoulder any girl friend needed. Being the person who’d listen and being that extra friend whom she may need.
If you’d ask why this came about? It was just a decision which came to me, which I personally felt I wanted to do. It was because of the ladies but it was more so because scenes of their sadness made me depressed.
When I watched a video shared by my friend, I couldn’t help but feel depressed, disappointed and moved by its truth and the feeling you know, you want to support this.
Though women are the ultimate sexual symbol of life, it worries me to believe how its current state would affect not only the US, but the minds of our own children to come.
Just think about it. What if you have a daughter now? What if you had a daughter today? How will they grow up in a society and environment which doesn’t acknowledge their intellectual (as the girl in the video says) or at least, acknowledge them as a potential equal if not greater to the opposite sex?
I’m a normal, sometimes spaced out guy, who believes women have the power too. And if we’re unobservant of this lifestyle, now’s the time to be aware and start thinking about it.
For the benefit of your daughters and daughters to come.
…that flows from this pen, my life lessens by every stroke. With every tip it touches, it gets coarser. Till its last drop it holds on, till itself almost consumed. When flung to the ground for fun, it bares the pain. The life of the pen that holds my words till this day reminds me of the love that I hold on..just like the pen.
Don’t question what it is as it just came and then left me as like how the chilling winds grace my face every now and then. Accept the abstraction without explanation as I’m confused and lost, trying to find my way. I hide in the cold bitter darkness now where it feels like the only place giving me shelter. Oh, what am I to do?
Life is sad..isn’t it.
I actually posted this on August 31, 2004 during my early blogging years. While looking back into the web archive for something, I stumbled on some old blog posts which you may would’ve never come across.
Gotta hand it to them. Without them, I never would’ve imagined or remembered myself writing this.
Ever went to McDonalds or any self-serve eateries only to be frustrated to not be able to sit down with the tray of food you’re carrying? I bet we’ve all vented out our anger in silence during this scenario.
Well, I thought of this idea for a movement.
What if, after I finished eating, I let you have my seat because you’re carrying your tray of food. In addition, I’ve to clear my tray of food from the table to the designated spot.
Then, when the next person with a tray of food comes, you’ll let the person have your seat once you’re done and take your tray with you.
The condition of letting another person have your seat is that they must have a tray of food already.
This movement will prioritize the patrons who respect others eating there. It will educate patrons to clean up after themselves. Plus, it teaches us etiquette of not sitting down just to ‘choop’ a seat. And hopefully, teach other people’s children proper manners.
Viva la revolucion!
Immersing myself in social media has been really fun. It was great reconnecting in Friendster, to finally easily engage friends in Facebook and share my thoughts in 140 characters.
But here I was thinking, what would be the weirdest moments to Twitter.
While crapping or peeing
If you’re crapping seated down is fine. Manageble squatting. But I definitely don’t want to touch your device if you did it peeing. Yuck.
While delivering a baby
As much as friends would congratulate you, I don’t think you’d want the blood weak ones to faint by seeing all that blood or your v-jay-jay. Lol.
While you’re having sex
If you did, you’re plain weird or plain uninterested. Or, you just wanted the world to know you slept with a hooker.
So I’m pretty sure you’d have other weird moments in mind, do share 1 of your spaced out thoughts. 🙂
Was driving to a client’s office located quite far away and the thought popped into my head.
Remember the time, when friends talk about some crush they’ve got on someone. And they tell you, I’m not good enough for him. Then being a friend, you’d tell them it’s not what’s on the outside that matters and he’ll love you for who you are?
And the person would think, you’re right because he’ll love me for me.
Well, yeah, that conversation was running through my mind. And ‘ding’, the fact of he or she will love me for me is bollocks!
I’m not going to debate on this topic. But here’s why I thought of it as a lie.
How can someone love you for you when you don’t even love yourself enough to know others would appreciate you?
Sure, you may be too skinny, a little chubby, a little flat-chested, overly huge chested or some other pessimistic thought. But do you even love yourself enough to do something about it on your own as much as you use it as an excuse to deny yourself?
Stop saying or telling people he’ll love me for me. Instead, notice enough to improve yourself and be happy for who you are.
There are plenty of people who love people for being themselves. 🙂
